Job Vacancy: Animal Welfare Assistant - Cattery

Salary: £14,287

Contract Type: Permanent position - Full Time

35 hrs a week, days of work vary as per weekly roster which runs for an 8 week period, including some weekends & Bank Holidays.

Animals in Distress operates in South Devon where we take in, care for, and rehome domestic pets, primarily dogs, cats, rabbits and guinea pigs. We have a rescue centre near Newton Abbot where we have approximately 200 animals on site.

The main functions of the role are to provide daily care and husbandry for the cats in the rescue centre, establish good customer relations and maintain administration procedures in use. This role involves cleaning, feeding, grooming, medicating and socialising the cats currently in our care. 

We are looking for someone who is hardworking, has animal related qualifications (NVQ Level 2 in small animal care), has experience of working with domestic animals, gained by working at similar establishment as Animals in Distress, reliable with excellent communication skills and is able to work weekends. The successful candidate will be flexible to cover holiday and sickness.
