UPDATE:   Thank you so much to everyone who donated to our appeal for kitten Boomer's CT scan. We received all of the money in under 2 hours and we, and Boomer, are so grateful for all of your support. We will keep you updated on Boomer's progress.

When Boomer came to the rescue centre as one of an unwanted litter, staff here quickly realised that he has a spinal deformity. X-rays and a scan have shown Boomer to have 2 abnormal curves in his upper spine which in turn affect his chest cavity and the placement of his heart and lungs.

It is too early yet to tell how problematic this will be, as Boomer is only 4 months old and still growing. At the moment he is certainly fine and rushes around the place like crazy, doing everything that his brothers and sisters do! As Boomer grows up he may be completely fine and healthy. However, depending on how his bones grow there could be long term implications such as nerve damage or a possible heart condition, which may shorten his lifespan. We won't know any of this for certain until Boomer is fully grown, when another CT scan can be done.

A CT scan would normally cost in the region of £1500, but our wonderful friend and supporter Patrick Ridge of Ridge Referrals has offered to do this for just £180. We are appealing for donations towards the cost of this scan, which will help Boomer to live the best possible life he can.

If any of our amazing supporters could could spare any amount - however big or small - towards the cost of Boomer's CT scan, we would be really so grateful.

Thank you so much for all of your amazing support, as always.
