Our re-homing area covers approximately a 20-mile radius of the Rescue Centre.

We have a policy for re-homing our animals, which includes, for example, we will not re-home a dog if there is no secure garden and we will not re-home a cat if you live on a main road.  If you would like full details on our re-homing policies or would like to check that you are within our re-homing area please telephone the Rescue Centre on 01803 812121.  Our telephone lines are open from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm.

If you are interested in re-homing an animal and meet the basic criteria you will need to visit the Rescue Centre and complete an application form.

If you are planning a holiday or moving within the next three months, please delay your application until your are settled.

You may find the following information helpful in your decision whether to proceed further.

Taking on a rescue animal can be very worthwhile and satisfying BUT is not always easy.  It requires patience, time and understanding and remember ANIMALS DO NOT CHANGE THEIR BEHAVIOUR JUST BECAUSE YOU HAVE GIVEN THEM A HOME.

Is the whole family committed to having an animal?

If the animal was destructive in its previous home then it will probably be the same in yours.  TRAINING and PATIENCE will be needed.

If the animal has behavioural problems they normally can be corrected but this again takes TIME and LOTS OF PATIENCE.

Have you considered what provisions you would make for the animal if you were away from home for any reason, e.g., holiday/sickness?  Did you know that kennelling can cost up to £10 a day?

When a dog or cat leaves the Centre it has six weeks insurance cover.  If you continue this, the premium is between £10-20 per month.  Can you afford to take this out?  Can you afford not to?

Have you considered the costs involved in veterinary fees?  Annual boosters, neutering, worming and flea treatment.

THANK YO FOR TAKING THE TIME TO READ THIS.  WE HOPE THIS HAS HELPED WITH YOUR DECISION.
REHOMING A RESCUE ANIMAL CAN BE SO REWARDING.
